FAW THAILAND

Standing By Every Success

FAW is a state-owned car company in China. The history of the number one car factory began on July 15, 1953.

China's automotive industry started with a visit to the Soviet Union by a delegation led by Mao Zedong. Chinese leaders admired the truth that the post-war automotive industry (and not just that) was at its best. The Soviet Union's automotive industry impressed travelers so much that eventually, a bilateral assistance agreement was signed, leading to cooperation and friendship between the two countries. Under this agreement, Russia agreed to help China build its first car manufacturing plant in the People's Republic. The establishment of the first car manufacturing plant in China was signed in April 1950, when China's automotive industry officially began its history. Mao Zedong himself laid the foundation stone for the first car manufacturing plant, which opened in Changchun. The three-year plan was approved, and the name of the first factory was derived from First Automotive Works, with the brand name appearing from the first letter. After fifty years, the company became known as the China FAW Group Corporation.

During the construction of the plant, Soviet experts played a significant role between countries. There was an exchange of experiences and manufacturing technologies for the production and procurement of spare parts and materials. The factory was built to produce trucks, and China's engineering corps participated in the construction. Construction progressed rapidly, and the first set of parts was produced by factory workers on June 2, 1955. In less than a month, China's automotive industry produced finished products, the Jiefang truck, using Soviet ZIS components. Its engine capacity was 4 tons.

The opening ceremony of the factory took place on October 15, 1956. The first car factory in China's automotive industry produced approximately 30 cars per year initially. This factory was led by Zhao Bin, who was able to plan and guide the development trends of the entire automotive industry in China. The first car manufacturing plant specialized in trucks for a short period, then experts in truck construction emerged, followed by "Dong Feng" ("East Wind") and "Hong Qi" ("Red Flag"). However, the market did not open up for Chinese cars. But in 1960, economic planning pushed the operational level higher. From 1978, production increased from 30 to 60 cars per year.

Originally, FAW focused on trucks. In the following decades, something new emerged - in 1965, the stretched limousine Hoggi, which quickly became a favorite of Chinese government representatives and foreign guests, gaining an honorable position. The car had a 197 horsepower engine. From 1963 to 1980, the CA770 model received updates despite its limited numbers. The base was lengthened, and the interior had three rows of seats. In 1969, the armored group saw the light. The sale of cars interesting to the Chinese automotive industry spread to countries such as Africa, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and South Africa. In addition to this, FAW cars also appeared in the Russian and Ukrainian markets.

Since 1986, China's car manufacturing plant has acquired Dalian Diesel Engine Co, specializing in producing parts for trucks, construction, and agricultural machinery. In 1990, China's first automotive industry leaders established organizations with various brands such as Volkswagen and then started working with other brands like Mazda, General Motors, Ford, and Toyota. FAW has emerged in Russia's open area since 2004, with truck sales starting for the first time. Additionally, they cooperated with the Irito manufacturing company in Gzhel, a representative of China's automotive industry, to start truck assembly.

Since 2006, SUV and pickup production began in Biysk, and in 2007, they began producing dump trucks. On July 10, 2007, a subsidiary appeared in Moscow - FAW-Eastern Europe Limited Liability Company.

Since 2005, the Toyota Prius hybrid has been discontinued from production. The success of the automotive industry comes from the joint venture of Sichuan FAW Toyota Motors. Later, China obtained a license from Toyota, allowing the development and launch of other models for sale, such as Sedan - Hongqi. Additionally, they introduced hybrid passenger cars from Jiefang. Currently, Chinese companies have factories across the central kingdom and cover the global market. The most important direction for the company is producing upgraded and redesigned old competitive car models. Today, the FAW brand is developing rapidly, releasing suitable samples in both domestic and international markets.
